Latest update on church closure and message from Pastor Stuart Dornfeld

Dated May 16, 2020:

Dear people of Peace,
I’m sure that many of you are aware of the back-and-forth of the “Safer at Home” order for WI and for Brown County. It may have given you a feeling of whiplash in terms of what to expect for today, tomorrow and the near future in terms of your life, your safety, your families and friends.
Please be assured that this does not mean that the activities and events of our church will return to normal immediately, even as that is a great desire for many of us.
We will continue to have worship on Facebook Live only at this time. The Bishop of our Synod and the staff and leadership of Peace all agree that this is the right choice for right now. The E.L.C.A has put together a well-reasoned and faithful document based on the federal guidelines that is helpful as we figure out the best way to navigate. ELCA Resource for returning to In-Person Worship (I encourage you to read it.) We are in the first phase of the guidelines and we hope to be able to have some form of in-person worship in the near future. The Council and Staff of Peace are in communication and we are putting together a plan to safely reopen, when it is wise, appropriate and safe to do so.
“We are Here to Share God’s Love.” This is our mission statement and it holds true for us especially now as we try to find the best way to love our neighbors and to share God’s love in the midst of these unique and often trying times. Thank you for your prayers for our community of faith and for your faithful giving. We will continue to communicate with all of you as the family of Peace and we hope that you will continue to worship (online), pray and support this place that means so much to all of us. We are still the church, even now, especially now.

Pastoral Call:

Message from Pastor Jim Page II

“Dear members of Peace Lutheran,

Through prayer and trusting in God’s guiding presence, it is with great joy that I accept your call to serve as one of your pastors.

The call committee graciously welcomed my family and me during our visit while ensuring that our time together was informative and enjoyable. My meeting with the staff was great and visiting with Don Behrendt was beneficial.  I look forward to working alongside Pastor Stuart in shared pastoral ministry (though I only own just two LEGO sets).

I ask you to hold the congregation of Apostles Lutheran in your prayers as God leads them forward in this significant time of transition.

Please hold my family and me in prayer as we prepare to say goodbye to a congregation that we have loved as well as to many friends.

Thank you for this opportunity. I look forward to meeting all of you and being a part of the vibrant and strong congregation of Peace Lutheran!

Blessings to you,

Pastor Jim Page

Sunday School 2019 – 2020 (Cancelled at this time)

Well…the Sunday School year ended rather abruptly!   I hope everyone is doing well and safe.

THANK YOU to all the amazing teachers, helpers, openers, support persons and leaders of our Sunday School program.  Sunday School would not be possible without the great volunteers.    Over the summer months, please consider volunteering for the 2020-2021 school year.  We have a need for many teachers and helpers.

If anyone has any comments, praise or concerns about the Sunday School program, please feel free to email the church office.   We would appreciate the feedback to continue to build and improve the program.

Have a wonderful and safe summer.  Hope you can join us for Vacation Bible School August 3rd – 7th!

Our church offers the convenience of Hearing Loop technology for hearing aid users.  Bulletins are available in large print, and hymn lyrics are displayed on our large screens at either side of our altar.

All Children are welcome at worship, though our nursery is available Sunday mornings for children through age 4 who might need a quiet place to play.  The nursery is located just off the worship area near our sound booth.  Parents of infants will also find a private area to feed their baby in the nursery near the sound booth.

Sunday School began in September and the last class of the year will be May 5th, 2019.  Students are invited to join at any point during the school year.  To learn more about opportunities for students at Peace Lutheran Church, visit our Sunday School and Confirmation tabs.
